By Linda Ruiz

Every one dreams of the perfect wedding day and to make that happen you should know which foods fit in with your season of choice. The wedding menu is a very important part of your special day and should be full of foods that people will feel match the seasonal theme. Catering your wedding takes a lot of the stress off of both of you, and will also help you in some of these menu decisions. From spring, summer, fall and winter the food needs to be consistent with each season as well as the drinks you will be serving.

Spring weddings are truly beautiful and usually filled with fresh blooming flowers of the season. Menus chosen for spring should be light and refreshing. Appetizers can include a cool baby spinach salad with fresh vegetables or scallops seared with a light sauce. Your entree can be a nice salmon, tuna or Mackerel when the event takes place in Boston Ma., which is know for its succulent fresh seafood. The desserts can include rhubarb mini-tarts, or tropical fruit salads sprinkled with fresh coconut.

Some spring drink ideas people love include mojito's and bloody mary's. For a fall spectacular colors should be kept in the theme of autumn like burnished gold, red, brown, orange hues. The menus should have hearty foods within it, starting with a spinach, and kale salad filled with tomatoes, squash and corn kernels served with a raspberry vinaigrette or an Asian ginger dressing.

Fall weddings are not only lovely events but gives you the decorating colors of the glimmering golds and burnished reds, browns and golds this season has to offer. Your menu needs to include foods that are hardy and represent this season. Starters you can choose from are compote with fig and apples, and fresh fall fruit tarts.

You can choose juicy steak filet, chicken roasted, or a nice savory filet of tuna or favorite fish. The sides should include vegetables harvested this time of the year and for desserts like apple pie, pumpkin pie, and a scoop or two of coffee ice cream on top. The cake for the bride and groom can be a luxurious dark chocolate.

Cocktails and drinks to add to your fall menu can be apple spiked cider and regular cider or a warming mulled cranberry cider. You can use darker red wines as well to round out the entire meal. Winter weddings are made to look magical as if one has stepped into a winter wonderland. Your menu for the winter season should be not only inviting but warming too.

For the cocktails delightful hot chocolate with whipped cream can be kicked up a notch for adults by the addition of marshmallow vodka, this will warm all of your guests up. The cake flavors that work excellent for winter are red velvet with a German chocolate filling and frosted in a red and green or silver and gold basket weave pattern or a decadent dark chocolate cake filled with salted caramel and caramel butter-cream frosting.

The cake can be decorated with sparkle and glitz, it is the season for it. You should think about dark rich flavors like dark chocolate, red velvet or spiced cake and then add in a filling like caramel, cherry cordial and buttered rum while frosting in a tinted butter cream to match the colors of the season. It is you and your beloveds day so if would rather add in foods you both love then by all means do it, as there is no set of rules you have to adhere too.
