Obesity: Acting As A Gateway To Other Health Issues

By Rey Vetangelo

Whether you are extremely overweight and haven't worked out for a decade, or if you are just strapped down with work and school and never find time to go to the gym, you need to find the right exercise routine to get the results you are looking for. Here are some things you should think about.

Setting goals to exercise more or eat healthier or both can be one of the most important personal goals an individual can set for themselves.

If you incentivize yourself the right way, you will find much better results in the end. This can be a monthly incentive or goal like running a marathon or just taking a vacation where you can show off your new-found abs. Whatever it is, make sure that you are treating yourself to some sort of incentive so you don't burn out.

While this may not be about competition, you do need to have a friend that is there with you. Sometimes it can help you out of your ruts. It is important to find someone who is likeminded and is willing to do some of the exercises that you do. Some friends can hold you back, so be careful. If they just want to talk or they actually limit your progress in other ways.

* First, and always first, writing the goal down. Without a written version of the goal, the goal itself can be warped overtime into something less than what it was originally. Adapting the goal is not a bad thing, but rationalizing its achievement when the goal has not been reached should be avoided.

One of the main health issues that those who are obese are more likely to contract than are those who are not obese is cardiovascular issues. The cardiovascular system in the body is primarily responsible for the circulation of oxygenated blood throughout the body and issues with this system can be very detrimental to a person's health.

Balance is important in your life overall. You need to make sure that your workouts aren't taking too much time away from other things. Also you need to make sure that you balance your workouts in and of themselves.

Some also like to place rewards along the way to help themselves stay motivated, but reach the end goal is often motivation enough for those who are striving to be more physically healthy.

Make sure that you take these tips seriously when you consider going out to start your routine. Know what you need personally and how you are motivated. Simple, challenging, changing, or whatever motivates you need to be your focus. Once you know that, you will be well on your way to success and results that are sustainable and life changing as well.
