Using Daily Affirmations To Change Your Life

By Kay Rozenberg

There are a lot of people out there that are skeptical about the idea that daily affirmations will be able to do anything to help improve their lives. A lot of these people think that repeating a phrase to themselves every single day seems a little silly and even embarrassing. If you already know that you want to be happy, wealthy, and successful, then what's the point of repeating this to yourself every single day?

To truly understand how positive affirmations can make a difference in your life, you must first understand the subconscious mind. The truth is, you're not trying to convince your conscious mind of anything at all. What you're really trying to do is reprogram your subconscious mind.Sometimes it's a little difficult to appreciate the true power of the subconscious mind. To put it simply, this is the part of your mind that processes your thoughts when you're not even aware of it. Have you ever struggled to solve a problem or situation, only to have a spark of inspiration when you least expected it? This is actually your subconscious mind at work. It is the part of your mind that continues to function long after your conscious mind has moved on to other things.

But, surely, the point is that someone who uses this affirmation on a daily basis will find some relevance in it? They are likely to be someone who follows a western religious doctrine and takes comfort from the Bible. You would be unlikely to find someone of an eastern faith using this particular form of words as a source of strength.I recently visited Nepal and had the privilege of seeing many Buddhist followers repeatedly chanting the mantra "Om Ma Ni Pad Me Hum" as they walked trance-like around the Boudhanath in Kathmandu.

What about the real estate salesman who wakes in the morning, stares himself in the mirror and affirms "I have the inner strength to make this sale today"? He affirms it again and again until it is ingrained in his subconscious and his lips murmur it while he brushes his teeth... While he drives to work... He's like an automaton, trance like as he operates the car.

Positive daily affirmations are a powerful way to reprogram your subconscious mind. They can replace negative and destructive thoughts with positive and happy ones. When you are continually repeating uplifting and positive messages to yourself, they begin to soak into your subconscious mind. After a while, your subconscious mind will begin to accept and believe these thoughts. When this happens, your conscious mind will begin to make good decisions that affect your life in a positive manner.

By now, most people know the basics of positive daily affirmations. These are sayings you repeat to yourself in order to program your subconscious mind into changing your view of the world. The harder part to understand is how they work with the Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction states that you attract to you what you spend your energy on. Quite simply, if you focus your energy on good and positive things, then good and positive things will be attracted to your life. The best way to focus your energy on the things you want to attract to you is by using daily positive affirmations.

The use of positive daily affirmations to help with the Law of Attraction works best when you keep in mind 3 simple tips. The first main tip to keep in mind can be summed up with the word repetition. When stating your affirmations, the best time to say them is in the morning shortly after waking up and at night before going to bed. Some people will even go so far as to post notes around their house so they are constantly reminded of them. This repetition will help you focus your energies on what you want to attract. The more you repeat your positive daily affirmations to your self, the more your energies will become focused on them.

Another one-word tip for positive daily affirmations is emotions. Pour your emotions into your affirmations so that they become more than just a statement. It is hard to really focus on something that is nothing more than just words. In order to get the most out of your affirmations, you should visualize what your statement represents. Pour as much emotion as you can into them, so that it is easier to know what you should be feeling when you achieve your goals. This will make your statements become something real and almost tangible as opposed to nothing more than empty words. Your positive daily affirmations should then become almost a part of you.

The late, great Jim Rohn said "Affirmations are great, as long as you affirm the truth." But,exactly what is the truth? The truth for you is what-ever you decide it to be. It is a fact that we become that which we think about most. This is where daily positive affirmations can really help us to shape our reality to our liking. For positive affirmations to be effective they must be used regularly. This is why daily repetition of a desired goal is so important. We are creatures of habit. It is through repetition of certain actions or behaviors that our habits are formed and it is by daily repetition that new actions or behaviors can be formed.

When used in the correct manner, positive daily affirmations are the best way to put the Law of Attraction to work for you. You are programming your subconscious mind to see and believe that all of your energies should be focused on the positive. This will in turn attract the positive back to you. Your positive daily affirmations are your key to achieving your goals in life.
