Here's How Cast Iron Pans Should AbsolutelyIntensify Your Cooking

By Monet Strother

If you and I are anything alike, then you probably were raised preparing and serving food made from a pot or frying pan coated with teflon. Most pans are made this way nowadays. These pans are sprayed with a teflon lining to stop food from getting stuck to them. You should be super careful with teflon coated pans, and you can not use metal spoons on teflon coated pans or the pans will get scratched. I'm positive you totally have experienced what I'm talking about.

Still this wasn't always how pans were. People in the past cooked in pans made from cast iron. Teflon lining didn't happen to be around previously, and they had to have something sturdy that could stay around a long time. People needed something that was created one time, and put to use for every meal. And cast iron was the preferred pan of choice.

These pans happened to be very dependable and could take almost anything you could throw at them, from intense heat to intense cold, to even being knocked on the pavement. People used these types of pans before modern technology. These pans lasted 30 years or more and were passed down from relatives.

Although at some point down the line, we gave up the passion for pans made out of cast iron. A pan much more time-saving appeared and we forgot about pans made out of cast iron. Nowadays people make use of low quality pans that aren't put together well, that can be washed easily. That is because this type of pan takes a some work. But if you do that additional extra effort, the rewards are really worth it.

I don't mean that everyone has given up cooking with pans made with cast iron altogether. I personally cook with cast iron pans very often, and these pans are really starting to make a huge comeback. And this is because regular people have begun to catch on to the positives.

Let me tell you a couple of the qualities that help to make cast iron cooking incredible:

First, meals that are cooked in a pan made from cast iron taste great. It tastes so much more delicious than the things that you create in a regular pan made from teflon. This pertains to what is referred to as the 'seasoning'. The 'seasoning' happens from never using detergent to the pans surface, and maintaining the flavors that come from cooking food in the pan. The flavors stay locked up inside the pan, and after awhile begin to generate deep, full bodied flavors in the food you cook in your cast iron pan.

The second thing is, pans that are made out of cast iron are completely non stick if you treat the pans as you should. The pans don't need non stick teflon or any man made material to stop your food from getting stuck. That is if immediately after every use, you line your pan with a slight layer of cooking grease. The oil assists to seal in the 'seasoning' and formulate a nice surface that won't allow food to stick. After some time, this non stick surface remains long lasting.

Lastly, you are able to create almost anything with pans made out of cast iron. You can grill vegetables on the stove, prepare meat, or even bake your pan in the oven. These pans are very resourceful. A lot of times I just put my pan directly on a stove burner so that I can cook with the pan anytime I need.

Like I mentioned earlier, using cast iron has many pluses. I did not totally address everything here. Yet if you could be pondering acquiring a cast iron pan, I totally think you should. It is a perfect investment and will completely enhance the way you cook. Also, these pans will last forever. Hopefully a ton more people will get back to cooking with cast iron as they happened to do in the 'old days'.
